I teach year-5 maths and I'm covering fractions next term. Build me a six-week plan: what to introduce each week, one worked example per week I can put on the board, and the two mistakes kids always make with that bit so I can head them off. Two steps. No tooling picked up, no file written, fifteen seconds.
The answer is a single table: week, what to introduce, one worked example, two mistakes. Four columns covering the three things the request listed, sized to be read standing up before a lesson starts.
Elsewhere in this gallery is a run that was asked for a spreadsheet and built a spreadsheet, across two attempts, because the request named the artifact. This request named a constraint instead: something readable on one screen.
A slide deck would have satisfied nobody. A PDF would have meant opening a PDF ninety seconds before a class. The restraint is the useful behaviour here, and it is the harder one — producing a file always looks more like work.
This was the demanding part of the request: "the two mistakes kids always make with that bit". Week 2, equivalent fractions — changing only the numerator or only the denominator; believing a bigger denominator means a bigger fraction. Week 3, comparing — judging by numerator alone, "5 is bigger than 3 so 5/8 beats 3/4"; thinking 1/8 exceeds 1/4. Adjacent weeks, genuinely different errors.
Week 4 flags that a child can convert 11/4 into 2¾ correctly and still not understand that the 2 means two whole groups. That is procedural fluency masking a conceptual gap — the thing that surfaces two years later in algebra, and the thing a teacher most wants warning about.
Each is three or four lines: find 3/5 of 20 by way of 1/5 of 20. Written to be copied onto a whiteboard, not read off a screen.
The sequence runs equal parts, equivalence, comparison, improper fractions, and onward without pausing to check anything landed. Most schemes of work put a consolidation point somewhere in six weeks. It was not asked for, and it was not offered.
This is the cheapest run in the gallery by a wide margin — a fraction of the cost of the file-producing runs alongside it, and finished in fifteen seconds.
What it demonstrates is not capability at the top end. It is that the same system that will spend ninety seconds building a workbook with a hundred and nineteen formulas will also, when the right answer is a table, just give you the table and stop.
Anyone who has taught fractions can check the misconceptions above against their own experience in about ten seconds. That is the only review that matters here.
